i purchased unleaded gasoline in anchorage and kotzebue this past week, both for my rental car and my daily driver. here’s a breakdown of those purchases:
KOTZEBUE, ALASKA; on september 21st, i purchased 13.97 gallons of unleaded gasoline for my chevrolet tracker at $7.35 a gallon.
13.97 gallons at $7.35 a gallon came out to $102.67 in kotzebue.
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA; on september 25th, i purchased 12.57 gallons of unleaded gasoline for my chevrolet equinox rental at $3.90 a gallon.
12.57 gallons at $3.90 a gallon came out to $48.99 in anchorage.
as you can see, unleaded gasoline costs substantially more here in rural alaska than what it costs in our urban settings. and that’s just for gasoline. grocery prices are significantly higher here in kotzebue than anchorage as well. this is my reality.
i am proud to feed myself and my family from the land and sea.
